[List IV/40] Siamese (Kingdom of Ayutthaya, 14th century AD)

This page will include my Siamese army (with Khmer allies) from the kingdom of Ayutthaya.

In terms of game, this army associated a good quality infantry to elephants. The Khmer ally also provides interesting support in artillery and light infantry. The lack of cavalry is the main weak point of this army.

(The idea of taking an ally is to have a histo opponent for my Siamese if I am led to play them in DBA version "classic 12 plates." Cerla will allow me to develop Khmer-style decorations of the Angkor style Vat)

I know that Curteys produces beautiful Burmese and that some of the models in their range stick for Thai but they lack helmets "ปีก ปีก" So suddenly, to make conversions, as much to keep a coherence of style by converting the whole army.

The helmets "ปีก ปีก" are those of the model below:

In fact I cheat a little, the main doc that I use for the aspect of the army concerns the golden age of the kingdom (late 15th-16th) while I think to play them in the 14th century for other " Other reasons.

These are videos of historical films Thais that inspired me to develop this army. There are plethora.

The elephants of this army have an interesting peculiarity. The fighter is seated on the mount's neck (where other peoples place their mahouts.) Behind him, on a platform, a helper feeds the combatants with spare weapons, stored at his side. The elephant, the mahout guide the beast with a long stick.

King Ramathibodi I (Uthong) made the city of Ayutthaya (อยุธยา) the capital of his kingdom in 1351, and annexed Sukhothai (สุโขทัย), the former capital, in 1376. The kingdom, known in the West under the Name of Siam, extended to the detriment of Angkor and tried several times to seize Malacca. He has often been at war with Burma.

Ayutthaya was open to foreign traders, including Chinese, Indians, Japanese and Persians, and later the Portuguese, Spaniards, Dutch, British and French, allowing them to settle villages outside the city walls. city. The court of King Narai (1656-1688) forged strong ties with that of King Louis XIV of France, whose ambassadors compared the city to Paris, in size and wealth.

The Burmese pillaged the city in 1569 and destroyed it in 1767, ending the kingdom of Ayutthaya. It was taken over by Taksin, but it set up its capital further south in Thonburi, and the Chakri dynasty took it to Bangkok.
